The Education Division of the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the First Annual State of Education Dinner to be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Hosted by South Georgia Technical College, this brand-new event will serve as a public forum for business and industry leaders to hear firsthand the educational opportunities and challenges being faced by educators in Sumter County.
We are excited to hear from our team of panelists: Dr. Torrence Choates, Superintendent of Sumter County Schools; Ty Kinslow, Headmaster of Southland Academy; Dr. Elizabeth Kuipers, Principal of Furlow Charter School; Dr. John Watford, President of South Georgia Technical College; and the newest addition to our team of dedicated educators, Dr. Neal Weaver, President of Georgia Southwestern State University. Through a moderated discussion by David Finley, Dean of Academic Affairs at SGTC, the event will serve as the business community's first forum in which to better understand local challenges and growth opportunities of our schools from the perspective of our own leaders in education. The floor will open to questions from the audience, following their remarks.
