The purpose of the Business Education Division is to engage the business community to support our education systems by establishing meaningful partnerships; engaging students in the workplace; and help  facilitate innovation in education, workforce development and community growth.

The Business Education Division works closely with the Sumter County School District, Furlow Charter School, Southland Academy, Georgia Southwestern State University, and South Georgia Technical College, and the business community to educate and prepare the future workforce for Sumter County. The Chamber recruits’ businesspeople to introduce students to local job opportunities and help them prepare for “the real-world workplace.”

The scholarship nominees are chosen after a series of recommendations and interviews.  From the finalists, one student is chosen to represent South Georgia Technical College at the state GOAL competition, the state GOAL winner receives a new car and serves as the state of Georgia ambassador of technical education.

Students are honored at Breakfast each Spring for their challenging work and outstanding achievement in the GOAL Program.

Each year a Platinum Scholarship is presented to a South Georgia Technical College, GeD Student.
