The purpose of the Business Education Division is to engage the business community to support our education systems by establishing meaningful partnerships; engaging students in the workplace; and help  facilitate innovation in education, workforce development and community growth.

The Business Education Division works closely with the Sumter County School District, Furlow Charter School, Southland Academy, Georgia Southwestern State University, and South Georgia Technical College, and the business community to educate and prepare the future workforce for Sumter County. The Chamber recruits’ businesspeople to introduce students to local job opportunities and help them prepare for “the real-world workplace.”

Teacher for a Day

A Teacher for a Day Program, Sumter County business leaders are given the opportunity to assist a Teacher of the Year at a post-secondary, Sumter County School, Furlow Charter School or Southland Academy for a day. Participants gain firsthand knowledge of the challenges and strengths local educators face daily.

The Program will take place the February 2021.  The teacher and participant will connect prior to the beginning of the week and select a date that would be best for them.  The program requires the commitment of a half workday.
